The Straßer family decided to build a new barn on their farm with forage rearing. As calves need a lot of attention and optimum housing conditions when they are young, the family attached great importance to an animal-friendly and healthy barn concept right from the start.

After an intensive and well-considered planning phase, the new feeder rearing barn was built as a two-room barn with an outdoor climate. The design of the barn takes into account all aspects of animal-friendly rearing: generous bedding, plenty of space, light, various activity and care options as well as an optimal barn climate. To ensure the latter, the Straßer family opted for an efficient hose ventilation system.

One of the most important challenges in calf rearing is ensuring a constant and draught-free supply of fresh air. In order to meet this requirement, an individually adapted Hose ventilation installed. This system ensures that fresh air is distributed evenly throughout the barn without creating harmful draughts:

• Optimum air quality: Harmful gases and humidity are effectively reduced, which lowers the risk of respiratory diseases in the calves.

• Energy efficiencyCompared to conventional axial fans, the hose system only requires one fan per hose, which significantly reduces power consumption.

• Homogeneous air distributionThe uniform supply of fresh air means there are no temperature differences in the barn, which provides the calves with a stable environment.

In 2024, the Straßer family was honored for their commitment with the Bavarian Animal Welfare Award award. This makes them the second company from our customer base to receive this honor.
