A passionate farmer
Christian Oswald, an experienced farmer with 65 dairy cows and a herd yield of over 10,000 liters, has always faced the challenges of modern farming. Increasing price pressure and the need to create the best conditions for his animals have motivated him to make continuous improvements. He was particularly concerned about the air quality in the calf area of the old building, as infections frequently occurred after the calves returned from the calf hutches. Respiratory diseases repeatedly led to costly visits to the vet.
To solve this problem, Christian Oswald worked intensively on the causes and possible improvements. Together with his farm vet, he developed the first CAT3000® ventilation system for the calf barn in a self-experiment. This innovative tube ventilation system significantly improved the air quality and reduced the incidence of respiratory diseases, which had a positive impact on both animal health and operating costs.
When other farmers found out about this solution, hose aeration aroused great interest. Demand for this innovative technology quickly grew. This eventually led to the founding of Dr. Knopf & Oswald – a company dedicated to the development and manufacture of high-quality aeration systems. Thus began a new era in which Christian Oswald shares his passion for agriculture and animal welfare with innovative solutions and inspires other farms. In the meantime over 4,000 systems are now in use in 18 countries. in use.
